Terminology
| Term |
Definition |
| Regular |
Printed after advance and teaser styles. Features full billing/credits. |
| Advance |
Printed before the film's release. "Coming soon," "Coming to theatres *date*," or similar terms can be found on the poster. We note advances next to the material's title |
| Teaser |
Another form of an advance poster printed for advertising prior to a film's release. Teasers usually do not have credits/billing and sometimes do not have the film title printed |
| Styles |
When more than one style of a poster is printed, they are noted as "Style A," "Style B" and so forth. We note different styles (if applicable) next to the material's title. |
| Double Sided / 2 Sided |
A poster which is printed back and front. The back of the poster features the same artwork as the front, but reversed and in a lighter shade of printing. This is done for the purpose of displaying the poster in a lighted display box in movie theatre lobbies. |
| Linen Backed / On Linen |
A process where the poster is mounted on a sheet of linen using wheat paste. This is usually done to higher value posters to preserve them. |
